Mississippi Control Structures Ride

Joe Bourg led a group of 14 Miatas and 20 people on a fun and informative ride to view the Mississippi River control structures starting at the Morganza Spillway.

Most of us were unaware of how many control structures there were in the area, until we turned onto hwy 15 to view the Old River Control Structures. One or two of these structures were open including the Old Hydro Electric Power Plant at the end of hwy 15.

Joe reported that water levels had fallen quite a bit since checking out the area for the ride.

After stopping along the way and viewing the sights, we headed to Family Grill in Simmesport for lunch and enjoyed each others company. After lunch we went separate ways back home.

Thanks for a great blog about the June 29th drive and the photos. Fortunately the weather cooperated. Thanks to everyone who participated.
